Guest
Here's a question for all the ladies and men out there. Why does a person fall for someone that they know will never pursue a relationship with them? A person that is completely wrong for them. A person that gives out signals but will never act on them. A person that logically you shouldn't be with. Why do we fall for the people we do? Why can't we just stop falling for someone? What drives our emotions?

Capslocked
Yeah seriously why can't we all just drop our pants and have one massive orgy? jerkiness aside, It's just the way love is... You just want that person to have happiness.
funkify
Because we always want what we can't have; wealth, love, sex, etc. You wouldn't want something so badly if it just fell in your lap every day now would you? Eg. most people in western society don't think twice about having fresh water yet those in developing countries treasure every drop. Wouldn't you cherish something you had to work hard to get? It's the same with love, if someone is just crazy about you and would drop everything to be with you, eventually you will value them less. But if they made you work a bit to earn their respect, things would be different. Don't let someone walk all over you.
Admiral Thrawn
Physical appearance seems to have allot to do with these emotions, and if you are going with someone who has a higher status or that's more attractive than you are, then I think that's where allot of emotional issues come in. It's all a perspective if you feel equal with the other person, or if you think the other person is better than you are, and you have to suck up to them. If you dont feel equal in a friendship/relationship then it's just not worth having.
Maria33
Physical appearance seems to have allot to do with these emotions, I think you have to be physically attracted to someone to want to get to know them. But, it's the other things that make me actually like them. Like having a sense of humor, being a good person, fun to be with. As far as wanting what we can't have, the people we find attractive aren't always going to like us and vice versa. It happens a lot to me, and I get down about it. Sometimes I don't know how anybody actually gets together! I just try to tell myself that that person just isn't for me then.

I wonder the same thing---there are millions of people in the world; Finding THE One is like finding a needle in a haystack and I'm getting damn tired...
Trialbyfire
Are you certain you can't have them or are you just intimidated because your perception of them is that they're further up the food chain?
pureinheart
I agree that people want what they think they can't have or shouldn't have...unconscience self destruction possibly? Age helps clear that up, because drama and emotional stress become too much work. I don't look my age (thank God) and desire to keep it that way:D
