thomaslansing
Currently I'm 6'0.5" weighing at 140 pounds. Two years ago In was 5'10.5" weighing at 173 pounds. Early this year I lost 30 pounds in the course of 5 months with exercise. I'm been 140 pounds for awhile now and currently I'm wondering why does it still look like I have a lot of fat.. Right now I actually do look skinner at 140 then I was a couple months ago, but for some reason my thighs, tricips (I think thats what they are), and buttocks, upper chest fat still remains. Today i noticed it actually looks like its excess skin that I still haven't lost for some reason. If I weighed 2 pounds less than i do now I would be on the border line of fit and underweight. whats the best possible exercises to burn off this extra skin. Because as I said above that I have noticed in the past few months that i've been 140 pounds I actually look leaner than I did earlier at 140. I consume around 3500 calories day I think. (Sorry for any bad spelling and grammer)
Enema
I'm confused.. You're a 140 pound, 6 ft tall, man? You sound super skinny. Do you have any pictures of the areas you say are still fatty? I don't even see how the areas could have been fat in the first place @ 173lbs!
Green
I think the situation u r describing makes no sense u could go ask a doctor. Maybe all the weight u lost was just muscle and all ur fat stayes. Look you cant get rid of extra skin with out surgery, but if you grew 2 inches to be 6 foot and weigh 140 ur really skinny. I'm around your height and weigh alot more then you and I dont have any skin or fat hanging around so none of this makes sense
IpAncA
You can still be thin and have body fat. You just need to work out and tone up at bit. You do sound really thin though. How did you gain in inch in height?
Green
If other people think your skinny but you keep feeling fat you could be anorexic, I'm not saying you are you just sound way to tall and skinny at almost 6'1 to be needing to lose anything at 140 pounds. I mean I way alot more then you and am around the same height and people tell me I'm skinny
IpAncA
Yeah come to think about it you do sound skinny. My H is around 6ft and he is I would say about 180 give or take. He works out and stuff so I could be wrong but that sounds about right.
Author thomaslansing
My goal isn't to lose weight, basically i'm doing quite the opposite. I eat a lot and don't seen to gain a pound. But I understand the part that I should be thin at 140, but for some reason in just those spots I've listed there is a lot of extra fat. TO tell you one thing, I forgot to mention that I have really skinny legs and hands/fingers and forearms. But even when I was 173 pounds at 5'10.5" I had those characteristics as well. My guess is due to lack of body fat in those spots it causes the other spots of my body to look huge. For example today some people in my Foreign language class were playing with my bicipe flab/extra skin (what ever is it). This may help My Bmi is 18.72 I have a 29 inch waist measuring. Ankle circumfrence of 8 inches Wrist circumfrence 5(7/8) inches Groin 8 inches Groin circumfrence ?? Neck Circumfrence 14 inches Shoe Size 10.5 in mens USA Chest/Bust 34 Inches 22.5 inches head circumfrence (from forehead). I hope my measurements are good..

Ok then I don't know. He's probably less because he isn't overweight at all. He has more muscle so maybe thats why. Maybe you just need to tone up. Have you considered joining a gym. They have people there who can help you get on the right track.
Guest
Men can suffer from body dysmorphia every bit as much as women can. You sound far too thin. Hopefully you'll fill out to a normal weight and then you won't have to worry about the skin. Please see a doctor and follow all the instructions you get there.
Author thomaslansing
I had a physical a long time ago and the doctor says I'm fine. And that the bmi scale isn't really correct, saying the true limit is 16.5; basically implying that under 18.5 is simply a warning. I do bad legiments in my right arm that I've had my whole life that shouldn't really effect anything much physically. He also told me that the shape of my rib cage is unique by the way my rib bones go in. I can't believe a lot of you haven't realised that 140 pounds for someone who is 6'0.5" is healty and is still two pounds a way from that so called 18.5 cut off on the scale. My doctor basically says as long as you fit into the scale of 18.5-25 that you're fine, even if its a couple pounds closer to the next level. Mainly when I started this topic I did it by means of why do I still have so much fat or extra skin when I weigh 140 because I have friends who are the same height and weigh more by like 18 pounds and look a lot skinnier
IpAncA
Yeah that makes sense. I myself is bordering the BMI thing. I'm 5'2' and about 104-105 and people say that I'm too thin which I'm not. I hit in the BMI normal but on the doctors scale, they said I should be like 125-130 which is a joke to me. I think everyones body is just different.
molimo140
Also, how old are you? If you're under about 20, then your muscles aren't fully developed yet.
josie54
I can't believe a lot of you haven't realised that 140 pounds for someone who is 6'0.5" is healty and is still two pounds a way from that so called 18.5 cut off on the scale. I can't believe that you can't believe that we think you're too skinny! I'm 5'6" and I'm 145 pounds, and of normal weight. To think of maintaining my weight while growing to more than 6' tall--goodness, I'd be way too thin, and I'm a woman! That weight-to-height ratio sounds even more off for a man. That's the reason why we're all noting that your weight seems too low for your height. My lowest weight was 128 (around 21 BMI) and all my friends and family told me I looked too skinny, that my face looked too haggard. I finally took their words to heart (when EVERYONE is telling you that, you've got to think there's something to it). So, I gained some weight back. I went a little too far, so now I'd like to lose about 8 pounds, but I won't ever try to get into the 120s again. Anyway, your body is not my body. If you're happy with how you look and feel AND if you maintain your health AND if people aren't worried that you are too thin, then, as you say, that's not the problem. The excess skin is the problem you perceive with your body. There is no way to "lose" excess skin, short of surgery. However, I'd suggest added strength training, to build muscle and perhaps fill things in a bit more. Also, gaining weight, if possible, may help minimize the appearance of the excess skin. If you were once 173 pounds, I would guess you could gain maybe 5 to 10 pounds to get back into the 150s. That would still be a healthy weight and would give your skin something to hang onto! I thought woman suppose to weigh more than men? Breast? Oh wlll back onto topic. It also depends where you fat deposits are, your face, body, arms could look skinny, but what about thighs and butt. Thats basically where my major fat deposits are. My father goes there than most men, and basically I have the biggest butt for a slim guy that I know (not including overweight people). Basically my doctor also said its actually ok to be down to 10% under the 18.5 bmi weight, saying thats where the "true" measurement of what underweight really is (18.5 BMI -10% of your weight at that BMI). Which can be considered 124.2 pounds for me. I also here the true under weight is 16.5 or lower BMI, and if I put both theorys together, they are about the same weight difference. 16.5 bmi for me would be around 123.5 pounds. So i'm saying if I actually wanted to lose weight, which I don't, it would be around 123.5-124.2 pounds that I would lose the fat thighs and butt. Or I can gain leaner muscle mass and look skinnier and stay at 140 pounds. If you go to one of those anorexic websites, the girls that look that really really thin with almost a skeletal look, they are people that are considered physically wasted. Meaning under the bmi of 16.5 maining actually consisting of people in the bmi's 13-14.

josie54
I thought woman suppose to weigh more than men? Breast? Men's healthy weight range is higher than that of women, when compared at the same height. Men have more muscle mass and muscle weighs more than fat, so men are supposed to weigh more than women. Here's some information I found on About.com, which offers a guideline for the "ideal" body weight (yes, I realize there's no such thing, and that there are healthy weight ranges, but this is just a guideline). For a 6' woman of medium frame, it's about 160. For a 6' man of medium frame, it's about 178: "Determining desirable body weight: A simple way to determine desirable body weight is as follows: Women: 100 pounds of body weight for the first 5 feet of height, 5 pounds for each additional inch.Men: 106 pounds of body weight for the first 5 feet of height, 6 pounds for each additional inch.Add 10% for a large frame size, and subtract 10% for a small frame size.Determining frame size: To determine the body frame size, measure the wrist with a tape measure and use the following chart to determine whether the person is small, medium, or large boned. Women: height under 5'2"small = wrist size less than 5.5"medium = wrist size 5.5" to 5.75"large = wrist size over 5.75" [*]height 5'2" to 5' 5" small = wrist size less than 6"medium = wrist size 6" to 6.25"large = wrist size over 6.25" [*]height over 5' 5" small = wrist size less than 6.25"medium = wrist size 6.25" to 6.5"large = wrist size over 6.5" Men: height over 5' 5"small = wrist size 5.5" to 6.5"medium = wrist size 6.5" to 7.5"large = wrist size over 7.5" Using the above formula, you can determine your desirable body weight. The formula provides an approximate desirable body weight for height. The weight range can vary on an individual basis."
lasan
Josie, that sound right. My doctor (he's a specialist, I have a metabloic disorder and insulin resistance) took all sorts of measurements before he came up with the weight range he wanted to see me in. I am 5'5 and the range he would like to see is 145-175. 175 being the absolute highest that he would allow without ragging on me too much lol. I couldn't believe it when he told me. All my life I had been looking at those charts that said I should weigh 120 lbs. He explained to me the differnce in frame sizes in great detail, and how it should be taken into account when calculating the ideal weight. My wrist measures at 7.5 inches. My sister, who is a bit shorter than me weighs about 145 or so, and she is healthy as it gets. Back to the OP- You sound painfully thin for your height. My spouse was 6'4 and a little over 200 lbs and he was considered fine for with his weight according to his doctor. About the loose skin- I have no idea where to find it but I read a fabulous article about loose skin and body fat. The person who wrote the article said to show him one person that has less than 11% body fat that has loose skin. His theory is that loose skin is caused by having pockets of fat left and not so much that the skin just stretched out beyond surgical repair (which is what some articles say about how to deal with loose skin.) I myself have lost over 100 lbs. I Haven't really experienced loose skin yet. If I do, I will just start working on making sure my body fat is leaving.
Guest
Are you sure this is correct I am a 20 year old male and I weigh, 143 pounds. I am 6''3 and have a my wrists are 7'7 inch. this would mean I would have to weigh 106 pounds plus 10% is 116.6 plus 15.6 inch times 5 pounds is 78 plus 10% is 85.8 116.6 plus 85.6 202.4 pounds! making me nearly 60 pounds underweight?!? I can't imagine because I am neither fat nor really skinny.
amaysngrace
whats the best possible exercises to burn off this extra skin I don't think you can burn off skin. I think you need cosmetic surgery to correct that. But from what I've heard it will never look normal. Even the best surgeons can't fix it completely. I saw a show on it before where people lost a bunch of weight but now they have this excess skin. Some were saying they wish they could gain the weight back if this problem went away. I think you sound very underweight for your height. You sound unhealthy and obsessed with your weight and physical appearance. Ever see a head doc about that?
josie54
116.6 plus 85.6 202.4 pounds! making me nearly 60 pounds underweight?!? I can't imagine because I am neither fat nor really skinny. At 6'3" and 143 pounds, you have to be pretty thin. BUT that doesn't mean you're unhealthy. It depends on how you feel and how it fits on you. Some people are just really slim by nature. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you find people constantly remarking on how thin or even ill you look (we often can't see ourselves objectively). If that's the case, then you probably might ask your doctor whether you could stand to gain a few pounds. However, if you FEEL fine and you're happy with how you look, AND if other people who care about you don't make remarks about your health, then your weight probably isn't a problem.
