Yes, I'm full of questions today.

For the past two weeks or so, my back has been really hurting, and I'm not sure why.

I've often had lower back pain, but right now it hurts more like in the middle and around my neck/shoulder area.

And well, I can't massage myself, so . . .

What do you guys do to relieve this?

I was thinking that there might be some types of exercise that or something that might help, but I don't know of any.

Any ideas?

Stretching always worked for me.

Here's an exercise that is meant more for the lower back, but it may help the other parts as well. Bare with me as I try to explain it.

Lay down on your back and take both your handsand put them under your butt. Keep both legs stretched out and together and swing them up in the air and back down to the ground. Do this numerous times. I hope that it helps.

Check the ergonomics of the chairs in which you sit in everyday. Or have you been doing something that has made those muscles in the back tighten more so than usual? Stretching the chest muscles and back muscles is a good idea. Also, doing strength exercises for the lats and the lower back muscles could possibly help.

A study of some sort was recently done that showed that having great posture is harder on your back than slouching. The best is to be semi-reclined, but I would go to sleep. Especially right now.

Get a tennis ball and put it between your back and a hard surface, lean against it and move around.

Do you have an exercise ball?

Non-weight bearing stretches... ( like backbends over the ball ) usually make space between the vertebraes and allow the muscualture to lengthen and restore blood flow to the adhesed areas where you are feeling the pain.
