MoonGirl Posted February 20, 2007 Share Posted February 20, 2007 Well stockmos it doesn't say that...it's about a repeated pattern, and how many of those traits are present in someone...one thing for someone to have 2 or 3 another to have 15 or 20. Agreed. Nearly everyone exhibits some "abusive" behavior from time to time. But true abusers repeat these behaviors again and again. If my husband had called me stupid once or twice during the years we were married, I might have forgiven and forgotten...but it was a daily occurrence with the intent to make me feel inferior. I did some research on abuse right after I got out of my marriage, and was shocked at some of the small forms of control & abuse that I hadn't even recognized before. Reading some of the things I did made me leave the last guy I dated, because I recognized some of the "small" signs much sooner than I probably would have. Great articles.
