josie54
Here's another possibility--allergic reaction: Just this year, I began having these sudden bouts with swollen, painful, red, burning lips. And then I'd wait for it to go away, and it would heal. Then all of a sudden it would come back. After this happened twice, I traced it back to a new facial product I was using. I threw that product away. Then I bought something new to try a few weeks later, and then the whole lip thing started all over again. So far, I've had it happen from a new sunscreen, a lip gloss that I usually wear OVER lipstick (with no ill effects until I tried to wear it alone), and a microdermabrasion product. The items share some similar ingredients, so I'm not quite sure WHICH ingredient it is, although I have it pinned down to about three. Now, I use a sunscreen with only mineral blocks (titanium dioxide or zinc oxide), face cleansers and moisturizers with natural ingredients that I can pronounce, and lipsticks and glosses that I have a safe history with. The lip thing hasn't come back. So think back to see if you've used any new products on your face and lips lately, which could have caused a sudden allergic reaction.
