Problem with looking too young?

Recommended Posts

Everytime I go anywhere and have to disclose my age nobody believes me. This is kind of a problem for me although most people would say it's it's a blessing. I am 42 years old and people jaws seem to drop when I tell them this. Tonight two people guessed I was 28 to 32 years old which is what I commonly get. I guess the issues for me is that I am very mature and I understand lot's of women like guys who are older..maybe 40 to 48 or something like that. So me looking so young throws things out of whack for me.

My whole family looks about 20 years younger than most people, so I'm guessing genetics are at work here. Maybe I should like die my hair grey or something so I can at least look my age and get some respect. Oh well, it's flattering to say the least. Last weekend a 27 year old chick asked me to dance, and put my hands all over her while kissing me. I was stunned that someone that young would be that forward with a guy my age. Needless to say I had a stiffy the size of New York. LOL

Cheers!

Enjoy your young looks! I'm 35, gonna be 36 next month and I still get carded sometimes if I buy wine/beer. (I don't drink, yuk) I bought some wine last week, stocking up for the holidays for gifts etc., I got carded. I've even been carded for smokes!! LOL They always appologize once they see how old I am, but I tell ya - IT makes me smile!!

be thankful. I'm 22 and most people think i'm in my mid-late 20's. It can be a good or bad thing as people build perceptions and from that having higher expectations from me. Hard to say but to some people age is just a number, and to others such as women age means everything.

But at least im thankful i dont get carded when i drink! :p

Looking to young can be a problem for some people.

I'm only 25 and I look 18. I have no problem looking young but in my line of work, it's hard sometimes to be taken seriously. Some people think that I'm too young to know this or do that so it's kind of frustrating. But once they get to know me then their ok with it.

I also used to get hit on by younger and I mean younger guys which is very annoying.

My whole family too looks younger then they really are. My mom is 50 and she looks like she is in her early 40s so it just runs in the family.

I will say this though, you should enjoy it because when your a lot older you make in fact start looking your age.

Enjoy having the youth look. I myself have it and its better than having a face of wrinkles, no offense LS seniors.:)

Like you said, the only potential problem is that some women around your age may mistaken you for being younger than what you really are and because of that, they won't give you the time of day.

Yea but when we do get wrinkles, we still got a baby face. Baby face + Wrinkles might be kinda strange. I'd rather look like an old man w/ wrinkles than a 24 yr old w/ wrinkles..

Really? I always thought that the baby face goes away along with the youth.

Are you seriously worried about 27 year olds hitting on you?

Mother Nature apparently likes you. Enjoy.

Who? Me?

To the OP- I know exactly how you feel. I will be 25 in 3 weeks and I literally look 16-17. NOONE believes me when I tell them I am 24. When I go to bars, they think my ID is fake. It sucks, but it is a blessing.

Of course not, I have a thing or two to teach them. I just don't like the lack of respect I get from my superiors sometimes.

D'oh!

Teehee, I have had the same problem. I'm 34 years old, but people have guessed anywhere between 21 to 25. It's complimentary! I get an awful lot of males that age hitting on me, and then when I tell them I'm nearly 35, they're like... "No way!"

It doesn't seem to deter them, either. Must be that MILF thing going on. (blush)

- pde.

I've never thought of this as a "problem" though. People always guess me to be ten years younger as well. I used to get carded at 35 all the time. Now, I'm in my mid-40's and haven't been carded since then.

See my profile pic taken last year and judge for yourself.

I can relate, Rooster. People think I am 27 or 28. I am actually 38...with a bday in a couple months. Ahhh..39!! OMG.

Anyway, I saw someone the other day from my hometown. She was a year ahead of me in school.

I was shocked. She looked old with frown lines and everything.

So, count your blessings RD! I know I do.

Yes, I can relate. I see women my age all the time and I swear, don't mean to be mean but some of them look older than my mom (who also looks ten years younger.)

So I went out to shoot some pool with a new buddy of mine, and he had a girl he me on myspace show up there as well. After talking for a while, the girl asks me how old I am. After telling her she proceeded to ask me what my birthdate was as if to catch me lying or something (like who would want to lie and say their older). Anyway, she was quite shocked and said how do you stay looking so young? and that her mother was only one year older than me. Truthfully I just have genetics on my side, that's really about it.

Regarding past friends and foes, I have run into people I used to know that are 10 years younger than me and it's the same case, they look very old. It's almost like I stopped aging at some point and all my old friends kept trucking past me.

Weird stuff!

I like people's reactions to how young I look. When I met my bio-mom, she told me that she didn't get her first wrinkle 'til she was in her 60's.

As far as that highschool chic I saw..she was 'all that' back in the day. She was your typical snooty cheerleader who thought her **** didn't stink.

But, that day when I saw her, she looked so haggard. We hadn't seen each other in 20 years.

All I could think was, "It sucks to be you."

I love it. :p I looked 15 years younger than her.

In highschool, I was a bit of an ugly duckling, but I grew out of that stage.

Aww...sweet revenge.

Rooster, I have the same issue and sometimes it's frustrating.

I look like I am in my mid to late 20s. I'm 37. I can not date someone my age because it looks like I'm with a "cougar" - haha. Most of the women my age are divorced with kids. I don't want to deal with someone else's past. That's just not in me.

I usually end up dating women in their mid to late 20s but most of them are confused, don't know what they want or immature.

I still have a kid within me and I still like to do fun things. But I am also looking forward to getting married and starting a family of my own.

Trust me, looking young for your age can be both a blessing and a curse. The key is to not get down on yourself. You just have to keep your chin up and keep dating. Eventually you'll find the one. I am very confident that I'll find Ms. Right -- and probably when I least expect it.

RE:

There is loads of truth to your thread, Rooster_DAR.

Everytime I go anywhere and have to disclose my age nobody believes me.

I receive this type of attention, as well.

On top of all this, whenever I'm with my family most people are dumbfounded as to how I'm related to them. Too many people believe I must be a non-sibling. But, I kidd you not, I am related -and for the record I was not adopted!

It is a tough concept to grasp. In everyday life I look much younger, like I am 16-18. It is not fun, most of the time. However, I love the freshness of my youth.

I would like to look more sophisticated. But I am doing great just the way I am.

Be happy with what you've got!
