Gala
Can anyone offer any insights about the depressive effects of alcohol? When I say this, I don't mean many drinks - I mean less than two glasses of wine. I had about this much at a social event last night (with dinner), and on the second glass I started feeling quite down -- not to mention tired. And when I woke up this morning I really felt like an ogre! I've had some personal disappointments of late, so the feelings were already there. I have done a fair amount of drinking in my life, but for the last several years (say, 10) I have mostly avoided real intoxication. I'm also pretty slender, so it's really not a good idea for me to drink much. I think that when younger I may just not have noticed a depressive moment or two after a couple of drinks, and just went on to get toasted. I know that alcohol is a depressant, but it's striking to me that a substance that is so widely used for feeling "better" affected me so negatively and so quickly...
Art_Critic
Alcohol is a depressant, which means it slows the function of the central nervous system It is not a stimulant like some people think. You might be catching your body in a really down cycle and Alcohol compounds that.. Stop drinking.. it doesn't sound like you have a drinking problem so it should be easy.
