Guest
The Myth of the Impossible Replacement - It is simply a fact of life that everyone and everything is replaceable – just ask those who never thought Wayne Gretzky would be anything other than an Edmonton Oiler. It is delusional to think otherwise. People fall in and out of love everyday. People who confess undying, honest loyalty can betray and lie. That job you do better than anyone else can be done by another. And a hurt you can never forget can be forgiven. The awareness of this duality of life, the existence of both sides of the coin, is how we remove ourselves from the land of negativity and embark on a new life where stumbles are not viewed as setbacks or failures, but just bumps in the road. I now know all this to be true because I never imagined that I would have an addiction, but I do; I never thought I would fall out of love with a certain woman, but I have; I never dreamed I would need to sell my home in order to stop memories from seeping in, but I did. I have done all these things and because I have done so I have changed my life for the better. This is but one small example of what happens when you take that first step out and away from a past that holds you back and towards a future you want. When you see the results of this immediately, it is the anchor you need to continue moving forward. So, the myth of something or someone being impossible to replace is simply that – a myth. Case in point, I was in a long term relationship that ended on a bad note. We have both had time to think about the mistakes we both made and what we want in the future. I have done just that. If one day this person approached me and wanted to try again, I guess it would depend on a number of factors – but it would start with them approaching me. I now know I can live without this person so would I want to live with them again? That would depend on what both bring to the table and do so with honesty. Never say never in life but always be prepared to live with and for yourself first, and then go from there.
