BeReal
I've seen http://www.eharmony.com advertised on this website. I've been to the site and think it seems like a good idea. I like the idea of weeding out people that are incompatible before you get too involved. Has anyone tried this site or heard of someone who has? What experiences have you had with it? Tony T
The people I know who have posted here and some in real life who have used Internet dating and matching sites have had very similar experiences to those of normal meeting and dating experiences. If people are honest, you can quickly find someone who is seemingly comptatible on a dating or matching site whereas in real life you have to look hard for that kind of match. In person, you can quickly measure the much-needed chemistry where you cannot on the Internet. No matter how compatible you are, no matter how many interests you have in common, if you don't share some chemistry that's all for naught. There are many thousands of people who met their soulmates on the Internet and many others who have met nightmares...just like meeting people other ways. Each experience varies. If you're thinking about getting involved in Internet dating using a good service such as the one you mentioned, just exercise all the normal cautions: don't carry on a relationship on the Internet for more than 30 days without meeting the person in real life; when you do meet them, do so in a public place; and don't even think about striking up an on-line meeting with someone who does not live in your proximity. Also, don't start an online relationship that goes on for a long period without the guy giving you his home phone number. Failure to do that is a sign he's got a girlfriend or wife...just like anywhere else you may meet someone. Good luck!
Bill
Well... After my first girlfriend left me, I tried http://www.matchmaker.com. I did find a girl, but it went VERY bad even before a month. As I was ready to quit looking (I signed in to cancel my account), I received a "wink" which means that someone was interested. I decided to have a look, and now I've had a very nice girlfriend for 2 months now. It's just like meeting people anywhere else. There are some winners, and a whole lot of losers. People can lie very easily to you online, as you do not know them. It is very good to meet early, so that these lies are not as possible. If you are female, bring a friend with you when you meet this person for the first and possibly second time. Make SURE you talk on the phone before you meet in person. It is essential. I actually saw that http://www.matchmaker.com advertised on this site when I was having trouble back in Nov 2001, so that's why I tried it. Your results may vary. Just be sure to investigate the person, check out everything about them online. You need to know who you are going to see, and everything about them. And good luck.
