Heavenseventeen
I was thinking of starting to count calories, but I feel like I would be leaning from the "healthy lifestyle" to the "fanatic dieters". I just hate/scared/worry about the idea of counting calories for the rest of my days...it would feel like the "diet" was controlling me. I don't know what to do. The only reason I'm complaining it because it's taken me 8 months to lose 30lbs, but if I counted calories this would progress faster...I think. I know that after you're maintaining, or after a while, you might be able to estimate again, but I would be too scared of estimating wrong and seeing the scale start to rise again. Can anyone give me their personal, honest experience of calorie counting?
GreenEyedLady
I loosely count calories...I don't really think about "the diet" controlling me, rather me controlling my diet...And just for the record I'm not on a diet, I've been maintaining my weight now for 3+ years... The one draw back is I kind of panic if I don't know how many calories are in something and I am paranoid about gaining any weight...Although, it seems that most women are paranoid about their weight regardless if they need to lose weight or not... And I probably am obsessive about knowing how many calories I intake, but that's what keeps me where I want to be...

LaughMachine
I woulden't go as far as writing all this down but maybe keeping a mental picture of how much and too much ( of calories ). When I eat something I do think about the calories but even if the calories are alot I still will eat it. If I eat a double chees burger all day and some water and some french fries maybe and than go work out than I know I'm fine for that day haha
VandGsMom
I was trying to lose weight not too long ago before I got sick, and i did the calorie counting thing. It worked really well, and I always rounded to the nearest 50 so I could just keep it in my head all day. I tried to stay less than 1800 and I was losing pretty good... RecordProducer
Can anyone give me their personal, honest experience of calorie counting? No one has ever lost any weight from counting calories. It's how you apply the knowledge that makes you lose weight. Knowing what contains how many calories is crucial for a healthy diet, just like knowing when and how much of what to it and whether to eat it at all. Count your calories for a few days and remember how many calories everything has. That will open your mind as to what and how much to eat in order to retain your weight. Trialbyfire
Nope, I wouldn't even know where to begin to count calories. If my pants get a little tight, I'll cut back on some carbs, and work out more. As long as you don't wait until you can't get your pants closed, lol, you will find that it works pretty well.
