What are you doing to move on?

Recommended Posts

There is a walk done from France to Santiago, Spain. It's called "El Camino de Santiago". To do the full walk takes about a month. You can still receive a certificate of completion by doing 100 km rather than the full 900 km. It is based on religion (Catholicism mainly) but many that I know have made it more of a spiritual walk. I am totally not religious but have seriously contemplated doing it. Celebrate finding myself, finding the courage to leave a bad marriage, etc... There are places to spend the night etc. along the way (free of charge) plus a look at another culture.

I may have to do the same as you...whip out the credit card and just go...I've always wanted to go to Europe, just never quite fit into my life.

Wow, that sounds awesome!! I've done a few stretches of the Appalachian trail. Don't know if that's comparable.

Wouldn't that be awesome to take a month to just go and be and do something like that!!! Hmmmm. Maybe I'll put that on my list of things to do in retirement!

Thank you! That is the kind of stuff I love! I'm not too religious either, but I would SO MUCH like to go to Jerusalem and walk where Jesus and the disciples walked. I do believe that Jesus was a real person and walked this earth. I so dig that kind of stuff. Totally.

(ok, why am I talking like a Valley Girl? )

I was really moved by the thought of it. It's been rolling around in my head for a couple of years now.

The Irish drinking song me and the Irish kid sang out loud together on the river...bolding where the emphasis goes...

I have fallen for another she can make her own way home

And even if she asked me now I’d let her go alone

I useta see her up the chapel when she went to Sunday mass

And when she’d go to receive, I’d kneel down there

And watch her pass

The glory of her ass

I useta to love her, I useta love her once

A long, long time ago

I useta to love her, I useta love her once

A long long time ago

It’s gone , all my lovin’ is gone

It’s gone , all my lovin’ is gone

D’you remember her collecting for concern on Christmas eve

She was on a forty eight hour fast just water and black tea

I walked right up and made an ostentatious

Contribution

And I winked at her to tell her I’d seduce her in the future

When she’s feelin looser

So now you know the truth of it she’s no longer my obsession

Though the thoughts and dreams i had of her would take six months in confession

See i met this young one Thursday night and she’s inta free expression

And her mission is to rid the world of this sinful repression

Then we had a session

It’s gone , long , long gone

I have fallen for another and she can make her own way home

Blackthorn does that one!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!!!!!

I was just shopping in the Irish shop today. I saw some books that looked like so much fun. All different ones I can't even describe, but hilarious. Ya gotta love the Irish. And if you're Irish, ya gotta laugh at yerself!

I bought my boss a Guinness t-shirt that says "Are you gonna drink that?" And on the back it says:

Some may say the glass is half empty

Some may say the glass is half full.

But the Irish will forever say

"Are you gonna drink that?"

Hey, have you ever had an Irish Car Bomb? Oh Baby!

Love it, love it, LOVE it!! Yep I am Irish and let me tell ya, everything they say about Irish and their love of drink and their love of their "mudders" is so true! Whenever I'm buzzed and get all deep and poetic, I know that's the Irish coming out in me.

I read the obits every chance I get. You never know, maybe I'll see someone I know in there. I read somewhere that's an Irish thing to do. You know why? Because that's how they knew where the party (Irish wake) would be!

And it's true. Every wake I've ever been to, multiple attendees would have coolers in their car. After you pay your respects, you make your way to the parking lot and drink and talk about the person you're there to remember.

I'm Irish through and through and when my Grandma died a few years back, after the funeral, we all went back to her house and drank a few in her memory. As a matter of fact, I can remember my Aunt Ursula carrying a thermos full of martinis into church that day!

I can remember our family reunions when I was a kid....One big, drunken weekend.

Yep, the Irish know how to party.

Cheers, me friends...:)

Ha ha! Never done the parking lot thing, but a house full of drunks is usually the way it happens around here. People think its crazy, but I think its actually a celebration of life.

And I met the best damn people in Ireland. Loads of fun. Music would just start up in a pub out of nowhere with a guitar or fiddle and the kids even got up and did a jig.

Have you ever read Angela's Ashes? Good book. You'd enjoy it.

Cheers to ya, Freedom!

Back when I was young and idealistic, I got a tattoo (my only one), it was when Ireland signed the peace treaty. It's a shamrock inside of a peace sign. A nod to the "trubbles."

Didn't do a whole lot of good, did it?

I know I have some French and English running through my veins too, but every stereotype, everything you've ever heard about the Irish, I can so relate to and point to some aspect of myself that I recognize.

I get my Irish up when I'm pissed. I love dancing to "jigs" (you do know that it's the Irish fiddle where that came from, right?), I get emotional, I get deep and poetic. When I'm drinking of course. ;)

Rest of the time, I'm stoic and all "Eff you!"

YES, I've read the book! The movie did not AT ALL convey his sense of humor though.

Its not only a movin on party, but as the Irish would say, "leave your troubles at the door and don't talk bad about anybody"! In other words, a Ceilidh!

Damn, the Irish know how to do it right!

You have more compassion for your MM than I did. But that's ok too. My exMM broke NC over a year later sending me gifts, but I didn't budge. 7 yrs was long enough. Not going there again. You know, you just get to the point where its just not worth it.

Maybe you can open yourself up to new possibilities since this other guy isn't around much. Time, my friend.

7 years is a very long time....I know a lady that has been with MM 20yrs+....she is a little older than me.

Thinking I might be the oldest in this group (46) and if I really want to "grow old" with a nice man, I'd better get rid of this R because it was going nowhere fast....hey am just now facing the fact I'm not 20....lolololol!

Good deal movinon, you give the rest of us hope that there are good men out there....AND THERE ARE!

OK, I'm just cracking up thinking how I'm going to explain my hangover at my sister's tomorrow...

"Where'd you get drunk, BTDT?"

Me: "oh, you know, at home. By myself. erm, well, um, see, there's this web site. Well, it's not really a web site, it's more of a community."

LMAO....

I'm 46, 47 next month. I started the A when I was 38. How many times do you think I wanted to smack myself for 7 yrs of my life going through that crap?

Yes, I am older but much wiser. There are many men out there our age looking for love, who were ready to give up just like we were. You just have to hope you hit on the "connection." And now I know its not impossible.

He's gonna be here early in the morning. Good thing I got his gifts in boxes, I just have to make sure I wrap them before he gets here. They may be tattered and torn, but as long as they're covered up! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Calling the police.....lololol

Seriously....with recent happenings old wounds are open a little, but I have a lot of support ....I guess one could say "D-Day" has taken place....so no more lies, that is a major relief.

I don't have to worry about that stupid, ridiculous, messed up, worthless, hopeless, Godless, freak of nature, bad hair day relationship ruining my career....
