Chunky husband loses his schwing...

Recommended Posts

Sure, it's a double standard!

I'm with you, and I'm the complaining wife here. I don't believe in the tough love stance, but I do think it's really unhealthy for my husband to be jamming his face full of crap and not exercising. I haven't belittled him and I haven't quit having sex with him, and I don't think I would do that, either. I just want to give him a push in the right direction...we had a great sex life and I hate to see it hit the skids after such a short time. The fact is, we do have less sex, and the sex we have is less enjoyable for me. The fact is, he really likes sex. The fact is, he'd get more if he weren't blimping out. So, Mr. Lucky, got any solutions that aren't a double standard?

Nope, no magic pill. I remember this thread with lots of back and forth on the same subject:

Well if that 20 lbs is only distributed around his waistline giving him that distinct fruit-of-the-loom pear guy shape; then yeah I can see where a women might find that a turn off.

20 lbs gain/lost within a week is just begging for sudden cardiac arrest.

Yeah. He's like a different person. He's been unable to fight off a nasty sinus infection and isn't doing anything healthy for himself. And, that pear-shape with a big belly is not only cutting into my attraction. It's actually making it pretty tough for me to get off -- and I mean that in the mechanical sense. The gut is literally getting in the way.

I thought I married a guy who was type A-minus (which was ok with me) and I feel like I've stumbled across his inner Beta. I'm a type A-minus and it was great when we were compatible. Now I discover that my outgoing, physically active, fun husband is really a couch potato!

For those who said 20 lbs is too little to be bitching about, that's ridiculous. I could see this happening over a decade in your 50s, but in one year in your mid-40s? That's just nuts. It's not like he's tall and can carry the weight. I can't, and I've heard a lot of men complain when their wives go up 20 to 30 lbs. Why is the double standard ok for guys but not women?

Pretty scary if you take a 20 lb weight gain every 18 months and project it out over the next ten years  . If he is completely inactive and continues to over eat and under exercise, he could easily gain 100 lbs in that time.
