xxbaddgurl83xx
I contacted a local reverend about marrying my fiance and I. He is going to charge us $350 to come marry us at a hall. He is also going to provide us with pre marital counseling. My fiance is having a fit and saying that he is charging us way too much money, plus he doesn't want to do the pre marital counseling. I personally think he is charging us a standard amount and I like the idea of the pre marital counseling. Do you think he could be over charging us or does this amount seem legit? Also does anyone know about pre marital counseling and what the consists of?
blind_otter
My pre-marital counseling stunk. We did personality tests and whatnot and we scored as vastly different, incompatible people. We got married anyways, saying "Oh, this pre-marital counseling is bullcrap" and then we got divorced 3 years later.

chryssy83
Where in the country do you live? Just to think about a possible difference in cost of living...I live in the Midwest and cost of living is low here. I think that amount actually sounds pretty standard for a wedding...think about the number of hours (between counseling and the rehearsal and the wedding plus prep time) this minister is putting into this!! EDIT: Premarital counseling is usually about finances, sex, how you fight, how you express affection, etc. They want to force you to talk about topics that a lot of couples avoid or don't get deep enough into before marrying because those are the same issues that seem to lead to a lot of divorces.
