nextel
I have been wondering for quite sometime if women that are married have tricks up their sleeves to get the man to marry them. For example, I was watching a motivational speaker and she said that if you really love a man want him to marry you....dont sleep with him until he marries you. A man wants something he can't get. Is this really true? Has anyone heard of anything of this nature?

Curmudgeon
I think that supposition is as old as time itself. Many men who choose badly then want out use that as an excuse -- she tricked me -- she hid things from me, etc. The ex was very manipulative, not just in the early stages of our relationship but throughout the marriage. My wife, on the other hand, is the most open and honest person I know and doesn't have a scheeming bone in her body.
Craig
I have been wondering for quite sometime if women that are married have tricks up their sleeves to get the man to marry them. For example, I was watching a motivational speaker and she said that if you really love a man want him to marry you....dont sleep with him until he marries you. A man wants something he can't get. Is this really true? Has anyone heard of anything of this nature? I think it is human nature to think of things that they don't have and think they want them. But what happens when they finally get them? Buyers remorse! I think the mot. speaker was generalizing and giving examples to make another point. Every advertising guru knows that a highly effective way to get someone to buy something is to give out free samples. But that is also one of the most expensive ways to advertise. So given that truth it would be better to sleep with the man you want to marry once and then hold out till he marries you. Of course it could be that once he sleeps with you he'll not be impressed and will go on to other samples. If you're looking at marriage from a behavioral-economics point of view it is also human nature to be unrealistically optimistic about outcomes regarding products and services (and marriage?) That is one reason why there are so many exercise cycles being used as coat racks and so many gym memberships that are purchased in January and used only once, twice or not at all. But. Do you really want to marry a guy that could be tricked into marriage?

Porn_Guy
most womens outlook is 6 months to a year in the future....i.e. as in she thinks "if I do x today how will it affect y in six months?" most men's outlook is whens the next game and their next meal

Ultimate ATF
Oh yeah thats right. Build up the suspension. I would like that. It would give them something to look forward to. It could make them even more excited and loving when you finally do get married other than letting out all the love and excitment before. Like, then, you could get married but you would have spoiled the excitment and they would be like "Whats new? We are just offically married, thats it" Know what im sayin? Its better to build up the suspense and excitement rather than going all out when you meet.
