Hi Everyone! I need some help. I have known a guy now for awhile. I like him alot & I think he might like me too, I want to know what you all think about being attached to someone who doesn't necissarily feel the same way? How do you 'stop' yourself from being attached? WITHOUT just staying away from them? Is there a way you can convince yourself that nothing is ever going to come out of this but friendship? Advice needed

Ask the person out. Denial is sure a big way to become deattached quickly. Then again, you might get a yes!

You said he has the same feelings for you. Talk to him. I agree with Bill that you should ask, that way you get closer on it. You cant start training your mind to have feelings you should not be having until you know for sure.

 

In other words, how do you know he doesn't want to date? Are you ready to convince yourself that he is not interested without knowing for sure?

 

If that is the case, than you have to change your thought patterns. When thoughts enter your mind that you should not be having than you start ignoring them. Once you start ignoring them you eventually set yourself free from it. It doesn't happen over night, don't expect some miracle in a short time.

 

The more you feed your thoughts the more the longer they will linger.

Well i definitily know that he is not as attached to me, as I am to him. I know that much for SURE. I do want to continue 'seeing' him, in hopes that maybe he's just a little 'slow' in realizing his feelings, we do have good times together. I just want to know is there anything that I can do/think to myself that will help me 'slow' or 'pause' my feelings towards him?

If you don't want to feel a certain way you have to redirect your thoughts and cut off your feelings. Spend less time with the person and less time thinking of the person. Thats all you can do. Thats all any of us can do.
