Is he doing coke or not?

Recommended Posts

Ok so here's the deal, my boyfriend & i have been dating for almost 4 1/2 years....he's never done any drugs except he's a regular smoker (not a chain smoker)....he'll have on average 3 - 5 cigs a day. In the past 6 months or so I've noticed some things that have gotten me suspicious about him using coke.

1. He's hanging out w/ a new crowd (although he's introduced me to all his new friends...and has even invited me out with them)

2. He's been increasing the amount of money he's spending (he tells me that he bought some weed ...which is believeable, he use to live with a guy who smoked a lot of weed, and got him turned on to it, but i'm not sure how much that costs, plus he spends a lot on alcohol).

3. A few months ago i found some cut up straws and a pen lying around his place (he claims he was just playing around and was cutting stuff up)

4. He constanly has a stuffy nose/cold (which can be explained by his drafy room, i get a stuffy nose everytime i stay there, plus he has bad allergies).

5. Just a few weeks ago i found another cut up straw (he says it doesn't belong to him, and doesn't explain it)

6. I checked out his search engine results, and i noticed he searched for how to chop up c ...and how to soften a crystal. I confronted him about this stuff, but he says he's sick of my suspicious and won't tell me....he's told me like 10 times he hasn't done coke before, but i'm still not so sure......

No offense, but it sounds like cocaine to me. What do you expect him to do when you confront him about it? Fall to his knees and beg forgiveness? OF course he's going to deny, deny, deny. That's the cokehead mantra.

He is definitely using. Don't waste your life. It is a very hard road. My exhusband smoke weed when I met him- then after we married and I was pregnant he started using harder stuff like coke. Then I fussed and bitched for him to stop and instead- he started smoking crack. So now I have two kids w/ a crack head and 11 years of my young adulthood are gone forever. I say cut your losses before he drags you down and everyone else around him. (PS I sent my ex to rehab & attended meetings with him- it didn't work) Best of luck- it is a hard road you have ahead of you.

It sounds to me like you already know the answer. The way you're offering explanations for each reason for your suspicion makes me think you want the answer to be no, he isn't using. But he is. On the bright side, if he's internet searching how to cut coke he obviously hasn't done it for long, so there's a big chance you've caught him way before the addiction stage, which as long as he doesn't want to keep doing it to spite your concern, then he shouldn't have a very difficult time giving it up. So when he can't deny it anymore and makes excuses for not quitting like "but I can't quit, I'll have withdrawals" etc.(they all make excuses) Look at him and ask him why he doesn't know how to cut his coke then? End of excuses. Oh and I can tell you don't want this to be happening from the way you wrote that, but it is happening so stop telling yourself there's logical explanations for everything and making excuses for him, all that does is allow him to continue using longer, so the quicker you accept that he's using the better

  • 2 weeks later...

he's defentially doing coke or snorting something. The cut up straws are a dead give away. He might just be doing it recreationally though once in a blue..but you don't really know but the way it sounds hes probably more of a daily user which is a problem.

It's coke or crystal. I've been there, I know all the excuses. :) Say you know he's either using or involved in something of which you don't approve, and if he doesn't agree to stop, you'll be out the door.
