I never thought of that. Weird. Both my parents have questionable parentage, so I think my medical history is pretty much FUBAR.

I wouldn't worry so much about that. Hardly anything is purely genetic, and so many diseases are polygenic cock-ups, anyway. A family medical history is only a rough guide, at best.

I still don't think you can rule out the possibility that he made it up.

When my Great Aunt got Alzheimers, she couldn't figure out who my mother was (her niece). So every time my mom visited there was a new story invented about who she was. One was that my mother was her long-lost daughter who she had given up for adoption. In reality, she had never married or had children.

I have to agree. I don't trust Johan, and I certainly wouldn't put it past him to wind us all up.

I dunno. I just dealt with my own father dying of lung cancer. More like slowly suffocating to death. But anyways.

He was lucid almost all the way up to the end. And I mean, sharp and witty and completely aware. But he couldn't talk because the tumor took away his voice. only when he was really out of it, I mean passing in and out of consciousness the 2 weeks before he died, did he start raving.

He could also have just been confused (one of the most common effects of a reduced oxygen suply to the brain), or even hallucinating a common side effect of Opiate based drugs used for pain relief, especially in the Elderly. I'd be suprised if he wasn't recieving some strong painkillers at this stage of the disease.

This kind of confusion can come and go, and someone who is completely lucid one moment can be totally away with the fairies the next, It's possible he didn't even know it was you.....

However death bed confessions certainly aren't unusual. It could be nonsense, it could be your father isn't your fathers biological father, It could mean your Grandmother was married before as easily as she had an affair It could mean anything...

I agree with the other posters I really don't think it matters....but if I were you I'd be tortured....I'd just have to know!

If you've alread had a conversaton with your Grandmother about your lineage, why dont you talk to her...You don't have to be too direct, ou could just say your Grandfather had made a really odd comment about your Dad's father, it made no sense, but he seemed to be trying to tell you something important...... see what she says, how she reacts and you'll probably find out

Hope your ok sounds like a tough time x

There's much to be said for retaining your dignity, and keeping one's marbles (not that you get a lot of choice in the latter matter).

I wonder if I'm going to spend my last 2 weeks being lucid. Because I sure haven't been making any sense up to this point in my life.

But doctor, will I be able to play the violin?

Lets hope you don't find out the answer to that one any time soon.

That depends if you will be visiting me on my deathbed. I should have just enough energy left for a proper farewell.

More irony? Or just bad luck?

That (also) depends on the way you're going to react when you miraculously "cure" me. Maybe then I'll wish I was dead.

I can live with that plan. Now we just need some cash to encourage the nurses to take a long, unscheduled break.

Who can resist a pink elephant's dying wish? To have a sexy voice read me War and Peace. Uninterrupted, of course. :bunny:

Why is it that every time I come back to check this thread I feel like I'm in the middle of a Twilight Zone episode?

Johan, we need you to come back and take some control here. We are lost without you.

We don't know how to operate the remote.

Why do I get the feeling that Johan is operating his remote now and doing just fine without us?

One guys head even exploded.

The subject confessed he always wondered why his penis was so long.

I hope these two facts weren't related.
