techgirl
There's this contract worker that works in my department at work. He works for a computer company but is sent to us every day to do IT work. I'm a computer tech and I have two bosses. I've also got another guy that works with me. This contract worker seems to be untouchable. We had a big program upgrade to do on about 150 computers. I split the list of PCs in half with this guy and did my half months ago. Just today my boss said that we could not wait for him to do his half anymore, so myself and the other guy have to do them. They won't make this guy to do anything. Everytime he has something to do, he never does it. He waits and waits until the bosses tell us to do it. To make it worse, he sits in OUR office and plays World of Warcraft all day. I'm not sure what to do. Should I talk to him myself (probably not a good idea since this makes me so angry) or say something to the boss? (also probably not a good idea, because I don't want to seem like I'm trying to cause trouble) They can't fire this guy because technically, they have not employed him under our company. Also, his boss is totally incompetent. Everyone that works in my department knows this. We had a guy before we got this guy who was great. He worked with us and did everything he was asked to do, so I know this isn't normal contract worker behavior. What makes it even worse is the bosses pretty much see that this guy doesn't do anything, and still, they say nothing. They have said they were going to talk with him, but nothing has ever been said. How can I make this better? I have no motivation to even do anything at work because I know that it's not my job to do his job.
amaysngrace
Is he breaching his contract in some way, the one your company has with his company?
Author techgirl
nope. and even if it was, there's really nothing i could do about it. also, when he does things, he half-asses it. we always have to go clean up his messes and people are always complaining about him when he does go do things. Maybe not but your boss could get rid of him if he breached in some way. Maybe it's time for someone in the legal department to make up a new contract for when your company subs out. Time limitations and productivity and whatnot?
