During my cycle, I get cranky and anti-social, lonely and depressed, and I dont like to plan doing ANYthing with anyone. It sucks cos I usually have to keep an eye on when I _might_ start and then deny people's invitations out. They always wonder why I cant go, and I feel weird explaining that I might start that day.

In the past, I use to get REALLY sick and major cramps. I've learned that this has a lot to do with my diet and I try to eat more healthy, more greens, more tofo, less carbs, less salt the few days before I'll start. I dont drink tea or coffee, nor alcohol. I dont smoke. I try to cut down my caffine and sugar and fat intake the week before I'll start. This helps a lot, but I still dont have any energy to go out.

So I keep hearing over and over and over again to exercise to relieve my pms symptoms. I dont exercise. Like going to a gym every day, it's just not going to happen. I like to walk. I take my camera out often and walk around the city almost every weekend. I'll walk to the grocery store, it's about a 5 min walk and I'll walk up and down my appartment stairs almost every chance I can.

For those who suffered from pms, what type of exercises help you? What type of foods help you?

I tried everything that you are talking about when I used to get PMS. Stopping caffine helped the most with my breast soreness. But not much helped with the mood swings until I started BC pills. I only have one day of PMS now and it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. No, it's not the natural thing that you are probably looking for, but i's what worked for me.

I've tried everything, even herbal creams and stuff to try to balance out my horomones naturally. I can't take BC because it zaps my sex drive, taking it down to ZERO. Not good when you're in a relationship.

Great thread topic!!

Load up on B12, make sure your levels are normal!! Drink water, walk, do yoga and make sure you get enough sleep. I try my best to stay away from coffee, sugar and carbs during my PMS days..It's hard, but worth it.

Well like I said in your other thread.. for me going to the gym 2-3 times a week was a great help. I've never been able to give up sweets and such, but just the gym alone made a great difference.

How do you know if your levels are normal? I went to the pharmacy and bought some B12. How much/frequently should I take?

I drink lots of water, walk, and I'm always sleepy or sleeping. I sleep a good amount, usually 8-9 hrs a night, anything less, i'm not functional.

The sugar's and carbs are SO hard to stay away from, because I tend to have a stronger craving for them during my pms days, but i know it's worth to stay away from.

I love to exercise whether it is my PMS days or not. Either way it makes you feel better. It does help me on my PMS days. Gives me a high to exercise guess you can say im addicted to it. Gotta to do it everyday! It makes me feel better after I have exercised and didn't want to. The only time I don't is when I have a headache. Even in my pregnacy I exercised. It is better for your over all health. Maybe you are taking in too many sugary substance and that is making you tired all the time. Too much can make your sugar high and also it will make you tired .

If you hate exercising and love walking, then make walking your exercise. Just do it for longer than 5 mins. Maybe aim for half an hour and then beyond.

A blood test will show where you levels are at. With me, it was more than just feeling yukky during PMS, I had low energy, and I felt just awful and shakey later into the day, early evening. It affected my mood, sexual desire, sleep, everything. I've had 3 shots (once a month) and am feeling sooo much better now. Talk to your Dr, and another thing is, during the winter months it isn't harmful to your body to have shots to help with SAD or the midwinter blues...

That would definitely put a smile on one's face.
