This is something that's been bugging me for the last couple of days. Any feedback would be appreciated.

ya know... i Used to say No, it did not matter to me as long as a car was had. But i have come you realize it does matter to me, at least to some extent.

Basically i would rather a guy had a better car than me. I have a 2002 corolla. i have dated a guy with a corolla and a guy with a sentra..... it was not the cars that lead us to part ways... but i hated riding with them.

It wouldn't matter to me. But, I live in a large city where some guys don't even have cars, or drive crappy cars on purpose to deter theft and because the car's just going to get dinged and scratched and beat up anyway. I usually have no idea what kind of car a guy has until much later.

As long as it runs and doesn't smell bad, I don't care. Oh, and dirty or bad upholstery is a problem - I used to snag my stocking on one guy's seats all the time!

I had a much newer car than my ex.. but I loved riding in his cause (1) he was driving and I found it sexy, and (2) his music and car's oneofakind messiness and nerdy books lying around in the backseat made me feel right at home

Me, personally? I don't care. As long as he actually has a car to drive and I'm not giving rides all the time, that sucks.

No problem there, just had the upholstery changed.

I have never really thought about the cars that guys have. I guess as long as it is fairly clean, and doesn't smell bad any car would be fine. The guys I have dated all happen to have nicer cars but that had nothing to do with why I dated them... Fernis, what kind of car do you have?

Umm, I have a 2000 Sebring LXI, but I loaned it to my sister who moved to Fresno and she needed to commute a lot. Her car isn't as reliable as mine. Right now I'm driving her car, a 95 Mazda Millenia. It's pretty good, we just had the interior upholstery changed because it was a mess. It needs other minor repairs, but apart from that, no complains.

Why are you so insecure?? Would you want to date some golddigger who would care about your car anyway?? I say, as long as you're spending your time driving her around she should be grateful.

You're right, I guess I'm just being a little paranoid, can't help it.

I don't see anything wrong with either car. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you :)

Yes it does matter...The kind of car you drive says alot about the person who drives it

This thread reminds me of when my friend and I were laughing at this one "redneck" vehicle that we saw outside the country bar we were going to. It was an old chevy blazer with rebel flags all over it, the KC light strip on top, 44 inch tires, all sorts of nascar stickers.... We thought good grief, who the heck would drive this vehicle... I bet you all can see where this is going....

Next thing you know, I meet this guy and we exchange numbers, talk for a while on the phone and finally invite him over... so what pulls up into my driveway... that big honkin' blazer... I'm just dying laughing and couldn't wait to call my friend...

The vehicle didn't stop me from dating him... but he sure did take a lot of ribbing about it.

As long as it runs decently and isn't filthy inside, I don't care. I'd probably have more respect for a guy driving a '82 Honda than a '06 Lexus. I know a guys with an '82 Honda and one with an '06 Lexus. I'd choose the guy with the Honda over the guy with the Lexus any day. It's about who they are, not about their cars.

Though, I would lose a lot of respect for a guy who bought an expensive car just to impress other people.

As long as the guy knows how to fix it I love what they drive. And if they can't fix it, I want them to at least be able to diagnose the problems with it.

Sorry to say, I like to work on cars, and respect men who are mechanically inclined. Hope that attitude o'mine changes, because it seems like grease monkeys are getting rarer.

I'm female and married. But I always feel that because I'm driving around in a minivan, I don't even get the look. You know, when the cute guy looks over and holds eye contact a couple of seconds too long. It's just a little something that can brighten your day. But with a minivan, it ain't happening.

At least I can fit lots of kids in my car for carpooling though!

when I had my red corvette convertible the chicas would always be checkin' me out....now that i have a regular car i gets no attention

that's not because of your car PG, it's because of your attitude....

It matters BIG TIME for me, but not the way you'd expect ($$$).

Like shoes, I think what you drive is a reflection of your personality.

Consider these examples:

~ A guy who has ooooodles of money and drives a beater, vs. the guy who has NO money and spends way beyond his means to have a "nice car."

~ A brown truck/SUV vs. a red flashy sports car.

~ The same car, two different guys. One is kept clean and in good condition, the other is unmaintained, dirty, etc.

I'd rather have the former in each instance.

yeah right!!

I guess I'd rather announce to the world that "my boyfriend's BMW is parked outside" than "my boyfriend's Mazda is parked outside", but if I liked you and you asked me out, your Mazda would not affect my answer.:)

Depends on the women. Personally I don't think it matters, because if the guy drives a nice car but has a bad attitude towards me and treats me bad, him having a nice car wouldn't make a difference.

My friend would only date a guy if he drives a nice car but too she is very immature, and can't seem to date anyone since she is so focused on finding someone to has a nice ride.

That shouldnt be a concern.

If a woman is going to judge me/ decide if she wants to date me based on what I drive, then she is not much of a catch and I wouldn't be missing out on anything.

I have a car that runs and I keep all fowl odors out of it and that is all that matters to me in terms of a vehicle.

I find it amusing when a guy goes out of his way to go borderline broke, just to have a fancy car, just so he gets some women to look at him.
