AriaIncognito
I can understand this thread because it came up in my previous relationship. The guy I started dating (and dated for a year) drove a 20 year old nissan sentra, and i believe an equally aged truck. Both were in horrendous condition. Neither ran reliably. He had been left stranded on a few occasions (one of which was at 1am and guess who went to bail him out lol) and i really felt he needed to get himself more reliable transportation. I didn't harp om it, and eventually he said he wanted to get a new car and he ended up getting another nissan sentra, but a 2005 or 2006 can't remember. He's been happy with the car ever since, and not stranded. (at least not that i've heard lol) I have to be honest, driving around with him (he was 36, i was 31) in a car that looked like a high schooler owned it and maintained it, did get to me. I was always one to value my possessions and do all i can to maintain them, so to come across someone that didn't seem to care one way or the other, wasn't for me. I'm not a gold digger. I have no need for a man to drive a fancy car, or a fancier car than I (for the record i have a 98 civic and an 05 acura tsx nothing fancy) and i do fine supporting myself. I do however have a problem with having to worry about someone being stuck on the side of the road at 3am because he worked the night shift at the time... Anyway, so yes, in a way, it can matter. Is it the be all end all, absolutely not. However nothing you mentioned in your post sounded bad to me. :-)
amerikajin
ya know... i Used to say No, it did not matter to me as long as a car was had. But i have come you realize it does matter to me, at least to some extent. Basically i would rather a guy had a better car than me. I have a 2002 corolla. i have dated a guy with a corolla and a guy with a sentra..... it was not the cars that lead us to part ways... but i hated riding with them. "Oh, but money doesn't matter to me" I hope pricilla reads this.
Author Fernis
I guess I'd rather announce to the world that "my boyfriend's BMW is parked outside" than "my boyfriend's Mazda is parked outside", but if I liked you and you asked me out, your Mazda would not affect my answer. Maybe in six months it can be "My boyfriend's truck is parked outside".
