I've just grown up around a lot of people say those kinds of things and making a show of eating their burgers and steaks to try to get under a vegetarian's skin. Did that bug me when I was 14? Sure, but since then, those types of attempts to get at me just make me think the person is really lame, and anyone with sense with think the same.

What makes you think I'm taking this personally? I was having an interesting time debating the subject and coming up with ways to refute your "logic", plus I was having a good time joking with Riddler and Magichands.

See you don't understand. This isn't about what those people EAT. There's a whole mentality to these people that I've noticed and don't like. It's a hypocritical mentality. It's a militant mentality and it's a mentality that values animals above human beings. Read the thread again. You'll see lots of evidence of this. Look at Alch's posts for example.

 

So it's not about what they eat and don't eat. It's a twisted mindset. These people just happen to have in common the fact that they don't eat meat.

 

If they were normal and just didn't eat meat, I'd have no problem with them.But in my experience that has not been the case. They're mostly a bunch of nutcases.

There are some vegans and animal activists whose actions and views I think are totally whacked. A few need to have their heads examined. I don't agree with the actions of those extremists, and I don't like being lumped into the same category as them.

I try to make a point not to say I’ve lost all respect for a person, because I a person would have to do some pretty horrid things for that to happen. Though now that you say that, I realize that the recipient of me saying I’ve lost respect might not make that distinction. I should be mindful in the future to say that I’ve lost some respect. Thanks for illustrating that to me.

Ok, first off I don't have a clue what you mean by the painful thing from your childhood. Was that on this thread?

 

Secondly, thank you for the nice things you said but CG, you must realize that people are not ONE dimensional. I can think of lots of people (and a few on here) that I totally respect and agree with and even look up to. But then there's an aspect of their personality or of their life or lifestyle that is completely not to my liking. See what I'm saying?

 

Look, I'm that same person you seemed to like before. I mean when will I ever be offered that kind of money (or ANY money to kill my pet?) Never. And I don't go around hurting people or animals in my real life. I have two cats that I love and one of them is like my baby. I've had her for 12 years. I even remember wondering out loud to my husband if I could ever love a baby as much as I love that cat. (Looking back on that now it strikes me as funny but at the time I REALLY felt that way.)

 

As to the broad sweeping generalizations, you're right. I shouldn't do that. But I've mentioned that I'm only going by my personal experiences with vegans/vegetarians. It's purely an opinion based on anectodal evidence. Anything I said was not presented as FACT. Im sure there are some normal vegan/vegetarians out there (can you tell me where they are though? )

 

I'm sorry you've lost respect for me. Not everyone "gets" me. And I certainly don't claim to "get" everyone. Some I do and some I don't.

 

We can certainly agree to disagree and not let this get any more personal than it already has.
