hotgurl
I agree with art critic exercise is key. Also don't make your diet to severe or else you won't be able to maintain it. I would say try to stay around 1500-1800 calories since you were eating 3000. I would think staying under 1200 right now would be really hard for you. Also eat a lot of lean protien. It helps you feels full. Beans, chicken breast, fish, tofu & egg whites are all good sources of lean protien. You also need to eat some fat it makes you feel more sastified. Try low fat cheese or cook with olive oil. Exercise at least 3 times a week. And remember to let yourself have an occasionaly treat. Whether it's swedish fish or a burger. Just plan for it. Guys tend to lose weight faster & in larger amounts than women. There is a guy in my group who lost 15 pounds in three weeks. For myself I did well I lost 2.2 pounds this week. For a total of 22.2 since last Jan.
Author Teacher's Pet
I plan on eating a high-protein breakfast every day. Would the fat in eggs be enough? A regular egg has 7g of fat, from what I've looked up. I don't eat cheese (allergic), and I don't put mayo on sandwiches (ecccch!). Eggs are probably the most fattening thing I'm eating right now. I eat turkey ham (2g fat per ounce), and turkey bacon (not sure, but I think it's <1g fat). I'm not an egg white person, I eat the whole damned thing. My lunches this week have primarily been soups (low fat, some protein). My other concern are carbs. I don't eat any bread with breakfast (my typical breakfast works out to less than 5g total carbs, which is nothing), so I do try to grab a "carb-laden" snack during the day, usually pretzels or rice cakes, because they are both nearly fat-free. My big "carb weakness" is pasta, but I eat whole-wheat pasta (I don't know why so many people turn their noses up at it, I think it's great), but I'm trying to limit that to only 2-3 times a week. Pasta with pan-grilled shrimp (no oils) and tomato sauce is an awesome dinner. A lot of carbs (though the better kind), nearly 0 fat, high in protein, and it really fills you up! Today is my 5th day in a row without red meat, and I really don't miss it! And this is coming from a guy who loves those HUGE steaks. I had a high-protein, high-fat breakfast just now (30g fat, 39g protein), so I think that should keep my "cravings" under control for most of the day. I will weigh myself tomorrow (woke up a little late for the gym haha), and compare it to my last weigh-in (about 2 weeks ago), and we'll see what's happening. Well, that's my morning check-in. -tp bread makes me go poo
dropdeadlegs
I confess that Saturday and Sunday involved a lot of cheating, but I still didn't consume as many calories as an average day before the challenge. I ate some ice cream last night and a piece of my daughters birthday cake tonight. Her birthday was Friday and I couldn't stand not tasting the cake her boyfriend made. I should have had a forkful, but I had a whole piece (not huge.) If cutting 3500 calories results in one pound of weight loss, I still think I will lose 1 pound during the week as a whole. I stayed true to drinking water and my skin is really loving me for it. I have a new plan for next weekend (bring my own food to BF's house) in order to avoid some pitfalls. I tried to keep to small portions of what he had, and I only ate one meal Saturday. Today was my worst day and I consumed about 2000 calories. The worst part is I have only exercised once in 6 days. Not good. I'm going to do better....
ShoeGirl
I didn't do so well for the first week, I only managed to work out once (honestly I didn't have time with midterms) and I was eating more junk than I normally do (I could blame that on midterms too right?). I'm going grocery shopping for better food tomorrow and I will work out more than once next week.

Author Teacher's Pet
Today I made my first "mistake". I was doing laundry this morning before work, and I was starving, and in a rush, so I had a sausage/egg sandwich from a Quick Chek. I figured, it's not a LOT of sausage, no biggie. Well, sausage is greasy, and I've had ZERO "grease" in the last 8 days (no oils, no overly fatty foods)... My body didn't know how to handle it... By 6pm I was on the toilet. Until 6:30. You can figure out the rest. Other than that though, I feel pretty good, I guess! More to come.... -tp well, they WERE solid.
dropdeadlegs
I did great today, ate just under 1100 calories. I didn't count the fat but it wasn't bad. I'm taking in enough protein to prevent muscle loss, a little breads/cereals, and lots of veggies. I haven't eaten any fruits. I bought some apples but my kids ate those within 3 days. One thing I have noticed that surprised me is that I am having a lot of intestinal bloating. Somehow I thought that would be better eating better foods. I know some veggies are notorious for causing some bloating, but other than the cabbage I ate Saturday I haven't had any more gassy veggies yet today was the worst day yet. Beer didn't cause this much bloating. I hope it regulates itself or something because today was quite uncomfortable. Still is. Tomorrow I will weigh myself. That scares me. If I haven't lost a pound I will scream. I'm not hungry, but have really noticed that I often eat out of boredom. There are a lot of food commercials on TV.

I know it's gross but I was bloated as well last week. I felt fat & bloated not due to PMS. But i did lose 2.2 lbs. I exercised Sat but Sun I became sick 101 temp so I have been in bed. The upside is that I am not eating a lot. So maybe I'll be ok.
dropdeadlegs
hotgurl, thank you for reading and validating/advising my posts. Today the bloating is better (not from PMS either) but I really felt awful all evening and up until this morning when I got some relief, so to speak. I suppose my body is adjusting to a different way of living. I can remember using skincare products in the past that made my skin worse before making it better. Hey, I have been meaning to tell you that your weight loss is great and to lose 2.2 pounds last week is fabulous. I have heard so many stories (mostly from my mother) about reaching a plateau, but it seems that WW is still working well for you. I am really enjoying the foods and do feel very full almost all the time. It's getting past some mental issues more than anything. there are a lot of habits associated with my eating patterns, like eating out of boredom and consuming alcohol regularly out of habit. When I realized that I was drinking 5000 calories worth of alcohol on an average week, it really stuned me. Drinking water was almost unheard of. Almost every beverage had either caffeine or alcohol in it. Really, in just one week I see such a difference in my facial skin. It was so dry and no matter how much top of the line moisturizer I was using, it wasn't making a difference. I weighed this morning and lost one pound (my scale does not have tenths) and I am satisfied with that considering my first week wasn't as consistent as it could have been. I need to stay busy as idle hands are eating hands for me. I think this next week will be more productive as I am gaining more willpower with each day. You are an inspiration to me since you have already surpassed my personal goal of 15 pounds of weight loss. Maybe I will hang up my bikini's in the kitchen to remind me of what I need to accomplish! Thank you for the information you give me!

Thank you for the information you give me! Congrats on the pound. I lost probably about 7-8 pounds in about 2 weeks, and I have just stayed there for what seems like eons now. I really do have to get more serious about it. I think the bloating is normal. In my first week or so of changing up my eating, I felt so nauseous. It was my bodies way of adjusting. It does get better. Are you exercising?

In my first week or so of changing up my eating, I felt so nauseous. It was my bodies way of adjusting. It does get better. Are you exercising? erika, thank you too for your information and insight. I have not been exercising as I intended. Walking is about the best I can muster. I tried running but my shins hurt so bad by the second week that I decided it is not for me, at least not right now. I live on a dead end road and it is about one half mile long and so boring that I hate walking it. Today I decided that I will venture out the other direction and walk the half mile to the intersection and back in addition to my road. I live off of a state highway, but there is a sidewalk on the other side of the road because a high school is around the corner form the intersection. I would really like to walk the track at the high school, but they don't allow it during school hours and I want to exercise while my children are in school. Walking and doing some crunches, leg lifts, lunges, light weights for my arms, etc. will be very good for toning. I did all that before with nice results. I have simply become lazy in the last year and need to get my butt in gear. Grass mowing season is upon me and pushing that mower around is a nice 40 minute workout of sorts. I could have easily lost 2 pounds this week if I had planned better for the weekend. When I used a high protein diet in the past I lost 7 pounds the first week and 5 the second, but it was too restrictive for me, so I am going the calorie/fat counting route this time. Thank you for your support!

ShoeGirl
I have been doing good at eating healthier for the last few days, I have been getting juice instead of coffee or pop, I have been eating whole wheat bagels instead of chocolate coffee cake. I went to the store and bought apples so I could eat them for snacks instead of trail mix or chips. I haven't managed to do a cardio workout because I haven't had access to my gym because I have been house sitting but I have been walking their dog a lot. I need to get better at actually working out...

Author Teacher's Pet
Calories 1,504 (too low) Fat 36.5g (woohoo!) Carbs 133g (woohoo!) Protein...................................159g ?!?!?!?! Is that bad? Too much? I ate Soy Nuts all morning as a snack (ecch).. I ate 1/2 lb of sliced turkey for lunch (no bread, just mustard..I know I'm weird but I like doing that), and I have some chicken and shrimp for dinner... Is too much protein a bad thing?
