I like it sweet.

Hmm...always pegged ya as a more "salty" kinda gal ;)

Day 2 has gone pretty well, just a little heavy on the (mostly good) carbs, but the fat intake today was nearly 0. :)

I actually feel pretty good. It's only been 2 days, but that's 2 days of eating very little fat and drinking more water.

I actually feel like I will sleep really well tonight, though alone as usual. :(

I've had a headache since 5 pm that I can't shake. Caffeine withdrawal? Overall I did great as far as eating and drinking water. I didn't feel hungry, but I don't eat much really. I make bad food choices. I want to lose the 15 pounds I gained last year. 20 pounds would be better since that would give me a bit of leeway. When I wore my chaps this winter they were right on the verge of being too small. Assless leather pants are too expensive to keep buying "up a size."

I did not exercise today and that will be a hard habit to encourage. I did the weight measurement thing this morning and found it difficult to not get back on that scale. It's an obsession with no purpose. I know that logically. It doesn't matter if I like my weight or not, I weigh myself compulsively. Maybe I should throw the damn thing away.

I hope that after 30 days I can see myself eating better long term. I wish exercise is something I want to do.

I actually managed to go running today, it was so cold out but I made my self do it, I was only out for about 20 minutes but I live on a steep hill so it was a good work out... I gotta stick with this so that I can look good in a swim suit in 3 months (at least that is my motivation:D)

That song "she wore an itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka dot bikini..." is now stuck in my head...

Doing well. Drank all my water and I really like water. I'm still thirsty all the time so I think I was pretty seriously dehydrated from all that beer!

I exercised, but just some toning stuff and only 1 rep of 30 on each. It was a beautiful day (sunny and 70 degrees) and I should have taken a walk, but I was pretty busy and never got around to it. I live on a dead end street and I hate walking on my road.

HA! Just wanted to say that I ate a Lean Cuisine four meat pizza for dinner and laughed out loud when I opened it. By four meat they must have meant four SLIVERS of meat. I could honestly only see four pieces of diced something. Silly me I assumed four KINDS of meat. For 350 calories what was I thinking?

All in all a good day and this is easy so far. If I can only last....:)

This is so neat...all you hotties following in my footsteps. :) :)

Today was the first time I actually counted calories...

1,170 for the day. I KNOW that's too few. I had about 13g total fat today, too, which I'm proud of.

I'm starting to figure this out, but I wish I had a better idea of how many calories I should be eating a day... I need more of a guideline to go by......

I'm so proud of you gals....

Oh God, I feel like Richard Simmons.

Sheesh, I just added up my calories and I only consumed 980 but I still had 21 fat grams. I know the calories is a little low, but I don't even know what I'm supposed to be striving for in the way of low fat. Most of my fat grams came from mayo. Today I got some low fat mayo and I'm kinda scared of how bad that's gonna be. I can eat something else to make my cals more like 1100, but I'm not really comfortable feeling so full and believing I will lose weight. Then again, I've had days (can you say football!) when I've consumed 1200 or more calories just in beer!

I have seen dieting websites that have a calorie calculator where you enter height, activity level, and whatever weight you want to be and it calculates the number of calories needed to get there in a healthy way. I don't remember the website names as I was looking at so many for exercises, diet programs, and recipes. I bet if you Google calorie calculator you would find one.

I drank coffee this morning, too. I used sugar and nondairy creamer and just counted my cups as 100 cals each. I don't actually measure my sugar with a measuring spoon, but I use the silverware that's called a tablespoon and I use two in a large mug, so I just said that's 5 teaspoons in each mug.

Can't seem to get enough of this water!

No need to look, I found a mens calculator for you. I just enter the weight I want to be instead of the weight I am because it tells you how many to maintain.

Mine said 1572 to maintain a weight of 120 based on sedentary activity. That seems like a lot to me. I have usually dieted at 1000-1200 calories. But I rarely diet. (I used the women's calculator of course.)

Low fat mayo actually isn't that bad. Now, Miracle Whip on the other hand.. But low fat mayo isn't bad at all. And I saw you say you liked chips. Have you tried veggie chips? They're pretty yummy too.

Thank you posting about the mayo, I was really concerned. I'll have to look for veggie chips next time. I bought low-fat butter flavored popcorn with 100 cals for a mini bag, pretzel sticks with 100 cals for 48, and in case I want something sweet, caramel flavored mini rice cakes with 60 cals per 7 cakes. I just ate 14 to put my calorie intake up to 1100 and they were really good!

I'm gonna try the mayo tomorrow for lunch.

I was worried to the first time I tried it. Veggie chips also. The forst time I tried em, not so good. But I got used to em. Baked chips are pretty good too. I just started a few weeks ago trying to change my lifestyle. I have been exercising more, but really should get more serious about it. As far as eating, I need to find something to help me with my cravings. When I'm at work, I get bored, and I find that's when they're really bad. Fruit can only keep me full for so long.

3,975.4 calories.

Holy All You Can Eat Buffet, Batman!

I've been doing my homework. I figured out what I think SHOULD work for me...

2,000 calories per day (I did about 1200 total today, and I feel fine)

60g fat

300g carbs

80g protein

Apparently, my "ideal" range is 1900-2400 calories to lose weight (so I want to stay on the low end)

I should also be between 64-80g fat (again, I'm gonna stay low), 260-330g carbs (I like my carbs, I'll just stick to the "good" ones), and 72-90g protein.

I'm gonna try this for 2 weeks and see how it works, and adjust it from there....

I'm willing to bet that there have been days when I actually consumed that many calories.

It could go like this:

2 eggs fried

3 slices bacon

2 slices buttered toast

1 Rockstar Energy Drink

Big Mac

Large Fries

Large Coke

1 fried pork chop (center cut with the fat)

1 cup mac and cheese

1/2 cup buttered peas

1 slice garlic toast

10 Bud Lites

Total calories = 3978.9

Not a typical day, but it could have happened!

I failed this day off the challenge also darn it, why o why arnt I writing my creative shiz down O well

Why not pick one day a week? Maybe that will take a little of the pressure off. Also, sometimes I am just not "in the mood." Be conscious of making it a priority in your life. Be ready when inspiration strikes, haha.

Have any of you guys ever heard of Flylady? I discovered her website, flylady.net, while trying to get help with organizing and decluttering. She has a book called "Body Clutter" that's just great for addressing all the issues with weight, diet, addressing the underlying issues, taking action etc. I'm not describing it adequately, as it really isn't a typical diet book. If you go to her website and also Amazon.com you can get a better idea. Altho weight isn't really an issue for me, I got a copy and I think it's one of the best books on this stuff I have ever seen. Plus her website, once you manage to not feel overwhelmed by all the stuff on it, is inspiring to say the least.

Total Calories: 1,770

Total Fat: 48g

Total Carbs: 258g

Total Protein: 78g

I'm not hungry, and I've slept fairly well, too.

In 4 days, I've followed ALL of my rules, except I DID have a "snack pack" sized Swedish Fish today. :) (200 Cal, 0 fat, 45(?)g carbs)

I NEEDED something sweet, but it kept me well within my #'s. :)

It's not on my "list", but I've had exactly ONE can of soda in 4 days. I don't drink a LOT of soda anymore anyway (except when I bartend). It was Diet (I never drink regular soda....eccch).. it's all been water and Crystal Lite for me. :)

I've also had a LOT of soup for lunch. The soups I buy are generally low calorie (a large can is 200-240 calories, depending on variety and only about 8-10g fat)

Since I overdid the carbs a little earlier in the day, I had mainly protein dinner (eggs and turkey ham - awesome stuff).. I'm hoping some of this "late protein" will help me kick off my first "on-diet" workout tomorrow morning.

I will weigh myself in the morning and see where I stand. I haven't weighed myself in about 2 weeks, but I will consider that last weigh-in my "starting point".....

My only concern is.. am I using realistic numbers? Should I be eating LESS carbs? More protein?

Anyone? Anyone?

Now, THAT'S a diet I like! LOL

Except....

I'd change up the Big Mac for something else (I don't eat cheese OR mayo)

I'd drink diet coke (I hate regular soda)

I'd leave out the mac and cheese (same reason)

Or...scrap all of it and give me 40 beers instead. ;)

You don't mention exercise...Are you burning up more calories everyday with all this good eating ?

I've been spending the last few days trying to save my job...which is beyond saving at this point...

One thing to look forward to is PLENTY of exercise time coming up after my layoff. :)

Do you think my basic diet is ok? I mean... I KNOW I eat in the 3000-3500 calorie a day range normally, so this under 2,000 cant be anything but a good thing, especially with keeping the fat intake low.

The exercise begins tomorrow morning. :)

You need to exercise to be successful at a diet if you want to lose a bunch of weight..

Changing your diet is step one though.. step 2 is getting on a treadmill or powerwalking a few miles a day.
