Debster
What's the difference between dating someone exclusively and being in a relationship? Is there a difference? I don't think so, but a guy was quite deliberate in distinguishing between "dating someone exlusively" and being in a "relationship"
Tony T
The guy who made this statement was probably being very technical. It would be my opinion that a person could date another exclusively, date no other person, but not achieve a level of intimacy and commitment in that dating situation that would elevate it to a relationship. Exclusive dating implies going out with one person only for purposes of having a good time...dancing, parties, theater, dining, etc. Relationship activities go far beyond that and include more emotional and physical intimacy coupled with a bond which would not exist in exclusive dating. I know people who date exclusively and have exclusive sex but have no intention of ever taking things any farther than that and have no desire to marry each other. Intimacy is more or less limited to the sexual experience. An exclusive dating scenario can evolve into a committed relationship if the two people mutally desire that to happen at some point in time. butterflyz
a relationship denotes more of an emotional investment.
