Is this something serious? (worried about back rash)

Yesterday I looked in the mirror and noticed what I thought was a clump of red zits on the upper right side of my back. When I touched this mass I realized it was some kind of rash, but it doesn't make me itchy or anything. I had forgotten all about it until looking at it again tonight and noticing it hasn't gone away.

How could I have gotten this rash? What should I do? Could it be dangerous? The rash really protrudes.

It's absolutely 100% impossible for anyone on the internet, including an online doctor, to tell you what your rash is, what caused it, whether it's serious, etc.

 

Go to a doctor and have it checked out. Have it checked out as soon as possible, before it possibly goes away, so that it can be properly checked out. Don't be embarassed, just go and get it checked. It will give you peace of mind. And in the event that it's contagious (can be spread), avoid close intimate contact with a partner until you have it checked out...just to be safe.

Posting on a forum for a medical diagnosis is a highly dangerous thing to do. Please, for your sake, don't ever do it again.

 

A rash can be a sign of an allergy to certain soaps, deodarents or other chemicals you have applied to your skin or you may have come in contact with a poisonous plant of some kind. But it can also be a sign of a food allergy or, worse yet, an underlying event occuring within the body that can be a medical emergency.

 

Get your butt to a doctor, preferably a dertmatologist, immediately.

 

I just love people who wait until the weekend to become concerned about medical problems that require the immediate attention of specialists who usually aren't in their offices Saturdays or Sundays. However, an emergency or general physician can probably determine if it's a critical situation or not.

 

Remember, these types of things are nature's way of sending messages to the person who inhabits a body that something is going on that's not supposed to be happening. While there's a pretty good chance it's an allergic reaction or a fungal or viral infection, it could actually be a sign of something much more serious.

 

Let us know what the doctor tells you. And don't ever ask people in an Internet forum, who have no medical training or malpractice insurance, to diagnose or even speculate on a diagnosis of anything...and especially something they can't even see. Hell, a licensed medical doctor wouldn't even do that on the phone.
